SE Alberta Regional Strategy

Cypress County is pleased to support the Southeast Alberta Economic Opportunity Strategy, Implementation Framework and Action Plan, alongside municipal partners City of Medicine Hat, Towns of Redcliff and Bow Island, County of 40 Mile, and Village of Foremost.
Southeast Alberta has a strong network of economic development organizations that provide services in investment attraction, business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship and innovation, advocacy, and workforce development. The region's six municipal partners are working together to explore opportunities for high-impact initiatives that will build the region's prosperity and diversify the economy.
The recommended priorities and initiatives are narrow in scope to ensure efforts are highly focused and incremental to the everyday economic development functions that are already carried out by organizations and municipal departments. They are also measurable to enable goal setting and progress tracking over time. Recognizing that many organizations are negaged with economic development service delivery, the strategy emphasizes initiatives that would have the most significant impact and warrant substantial investment.
Strategic priorities for regional collaboration in southeast Alberta include those that are recognized as foundational to the success of all other priorities, and those related to sectors that offer high potential for growth, economic diversification, and prosperity.
Foundational Priorities:
1. Talent Attraction and Development
2. Alignment and Advocacy
Sector Priorities:
1. Agriculture and Agri-Food
2. Aerospace and Defense
3. Regional Tourism
Please watch for more exciting information on the framework to be released soon.
